GCC Weighs Measures Following Iranian Attacks on Member States

(MENAFN) The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) announces on Sunday that it is evaluating a response to Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting multiple member states, emphasizing that it will take all necessary steps to safeguard regional security and stability, according to statements cited by reports.

Following an emergency virtual ministerial meeting, the council condemns strikes against the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, and Kuwait, describing them as violations of sovereignty and international law.

The GCC stresses that the security of its member states is indivisible, noting that any attack on one nation constitutes a direct threat to all under its collective defense framework.

The bloc also asserts that member states retain the right to respond in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter, calls for an immediate cessation of attacks, and urges the UN Security Council to take decisive action to prevent further escalation.
